Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Design Electrical Engineer in Abu Dhabi to lead electrical design across infrastructure, buildings and transport projects. You will deliver detailed drawings, calculations and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with project designs.

Applicants should have a electrical engineering degree, extensive UAE experience, and strong skills in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Dialux and ETAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field is required.
• Experience in design and documentation of building services electrical power distribution and lighting.
• Proven ability to lead multiple projects with deadlines and client/authority meetings.
• Strong knowledge of DEWA, ADDC, UAE Fire Code and local regulations.
• Proficient in ACAD AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks for electrical design.

Due to a strong pipeline of projects our Abu Dhabi team is expanding and we are seeking an experienced Senior Design Electrical Engineer to undertake a variety of projects across the region.

In this role you will work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team across a variety of infrastructure buildings transport and other project types.

Delegation:

Is proactive in identifying a decrease in workload within own team and informs Supervisor when additional projects are needed to maintain utilization.:

Ensures junior team members are adhering to delivery standards and ensures essential procedures are followed based on knowledge of own industry. Uses discretion within set boundaries (operating procedures processes standards) to execute own tasks within a narrower job area to achieve defined deadlines / targets in the most effective and efficient way. Is required to coordinate activities with peers in the same discipline to meet deadlines and achieve set targets in the most effective and efficient way.

Responsibilities:

• Design all electrical systems ensuring compliance with standards local regulations and authority requirements such as DEWA ADDC and UAE FIRE CODE.
• Create detailed electrical drawings schematics and layouts for all the electrical systems such as interior and exterior lighting design small power distribution cable routing fire alarm earthing and lightning protection.
• Prepare comprehensive electrical design documents including drawings specifications schedules and technical reports utilizing ACAD (AutoCAD) Revit and Navisworks.
• Handle several electrical design tasks for multiple projects.
• Conduct detailed electrical calculations including load analysis shortcircuit analysis voltage drop calculations and cable sizing utilizing appropriate software tools and engineering principles.
• Collaborate closely with architects and other engineering disciplines to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into project designs.
• Provide technical guidance to external stakeholders throughout the design and coordination process.

Requirements:

• Undertaking and managing the design and documentation of Building Services including: electrical power reticulation and distribution systems lighting design small power cable routing LV distribution and Single line diagrams standby power generation lightning protection and fire detection for new or revamp related projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage client and authority meetings effectively ensuring clear communication compliance with regulations and alignment with project objectives.
• Proven capability to lead and oversee multiple projects simultaneously maintaining quality efficiency and adherence to timelines while managing resources effectively.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer preferably with a focus on UAE projects.
• Indepth knowledge of local regulations and authority requirements such as DEWA ADDC and UAE FIRE CODE.
• Strong technical capabilities in ACAD (AutoCAD) Revit and Navisworks for designing and drafting electrical systems.
• Familiarity with electrical load calculations power distribution voltage drop analysis and cable sizing.
• Proficient in using electrical engineering software tools for analysis and design.
• Strong understanding of lighting systems small power distribution cable routing earthing and lightning protection.
• Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required.
• Revit AutoCAD Dialux Generator sizing tools and ETAP.
• Deals with less routine technical or operational problems with limited supervision and may solve moderately difficult problems that are not immediately evident and require some guidance from a more senior team member. Draws on technical knowledge and experience and information / specification received to develop the most effective and efficient solution for less standard or routine problems with a prescribed outcome.
