We are looking for an experienced Data Architect with a deep understanding of the utilities domain to join our growing team. This role is critical in shaping modern, scalable data architectures that enable digital transformation across electricity, water, and gas utilities. You will work with cross‑functional teams to design end‑to‑end data solutions, ensuring data quality, interoperability, and performance for analytics, AI, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will combine strong architectural acumen, domain knowledge of utilities, and hands‑on experience with modern data platforms and cloud technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and govern scalable and secure data architectures tailored to utility sector needs (e.g., smart metering, grid analytics, asset management).
  • Lead data platform modernization efforts including data lakes, real‑time data streaming, and cloud‑native architecture.
  • Work closely with enterprise architects, data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate utility business requirements into robust technical designs.
  • Establish data modeling standards, metadata management, and data integration best practices across structured and unstructured sources.
  • Define and implement data governance and data quality frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., DSO regulations, data residency).
  • Evaluate and select technologies and tools (e.g., Azure Data Services, Databricks, Snowflake, Kafka) aligned with long‑term architecture strategies.
  • Support AI/ML initiatives by designing data pipelines and architectures that enable model training, monitoring, and deployment.
  • Create architecture blueprints, technical documentation, and data flow diagrams to communicate design decisions effectively.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring for data engineering teams.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in data architecture, utilities digitization, and cloud technologies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in data architecture roles, including at least 3 years in the utilities sector (electricity, water, gas).
  • Proven experience in designing enterprise‑scale data architectures across batch and real‑time workloads.
  • Deep knowledge of data modeling (relational, dimensional, NoSQL), ETL/ELT pipelines, and data integration tools.
  • Expertise with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), including services such as Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Event Hubs, and Power BI.
  • Strong familiarity with industry standards and protocols relevant to utilities (e.g., CIM, IEC 61968/61970, MQTT).
  • Understanding of smart grid, SCADA, and IoT data flows is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance in utility environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience with large‑scale data programs, including data migration, master data management, and legacy modernization.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Data Architect, TOGAF) are advantageo
