Senior Associate Mortgage Credit Specialist (8 years experience)

As a Senior Associate Mortgage Credit Specialist, you will take individual ownership of the conversion of assigned mortgage loans sourced by the Mortgage Acquisition team. This key role involves assessing underwriting and processing mortgage applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and Yubis policies, driving loan approvals and maintaining high service standards for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mortgage Loan Application Processing: Lead the end‑to‑end processing of assigned mortgage loan applications from application to final approval; independently assess and underwrite loan applications ensuring adherence to Yubis guidelines and financial regulations; prepare and package mortgage applications with accuracy.
  • Client Communication: Maintain strong communication with clients to gather necessary documentation and address any queries or concerns; provide clear and timely updates on loan status to ensure a seamless experience for clients.
  • Risk Assessment and Compliance: Conduct thorough credit and risk assessments to ensure compliance with Yubis risk management policies; identify and mitigate potential risks associated with mortgage applications.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Mortgage Acquisition team to optimize the loan conversion process and improve efficiency; coordinate with cross‑functional teams (e.g., legal, compliance, operations) to resolve issues and ensure smooth loan approvals.
  • Performance and Quality Assurance: Monitor and analyse the quality of loan submissions and ensure compliance with internal and external standards; identify bottlenecks in the process and propose solutions to improve timelines and reduce delays.
  • Policy and Process Optimization: Stay updated on changes in mortgage regulations and internal policies; propose process improvements to enhance loan conversion rates and overall team efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 35 years of experience in mortgage credit underwriting or loan processing; strong understanding of mortgage loan products, underwriting criteria and regulatory requirements.
  • Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills to assess loan applications and identify risks; strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple loan processes simultaneously; excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and team members.
  • Knowledge: In‑depth knowledge of mortgage regulations, compliance requirements and industry best practices; familiarity with mortgage software and financial tools is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, Mortgage Broker License) are a plus.
