Job summary
Al Sahraa Group in the United Arab Emirates seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in GIS substations and power transformer commissioning to lead installation verification, testing, commissioning, and energization activities for 220kV GIS systems in line with TRANSCO requirements.
The successful candidate will supervise GIS installation, perform HV tests, coordinate shutdowns, verify secondary wiring and protection circuits, and ensure safety compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- 8-10 years GIS and power transformer commissioning experience.
- Expertise in 220kV GIS substations and energization activities.
- Strong knowledge of HV testing, protection systems, and commissioning procedures.
- Experience with TRANSCO safety rules and operational requirements.
- Excellent technical reporting and coordination skills.
- Valid CICPA Pass preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supervise GIS installation, assembly, gas filling, vacuuming, and quality checks.
- Conduct schematic checks and functional testing of GIS equipment.
- Perform CT/VT, breaker, and busbar testing activities.
- Execute HV testing, dielectric tests, PD diagnosis, and safety compliance checks.
- Coordinate shutdown activities and interconnection works.
- Verify secondary wiring and protection circuits.
- Carry out pre-energization inspections and commissioning activities.
- Monitor phase synchronization, voltage stability, and load energization processes.
- Ensure compliance with TRANSCO System Safety Rules (SSR).
