Job summary

PeopleStrong is seeking a Secondary Design Engineer - Lead for substations in Sharjah. The role focuses on creating, reviewing and executing secondary electrical designs for HV substations, including SLDs and protection schemes.

The candidate should have 7+ years in HV substation secondary design (15kV–500kV) with a BTech/BE in electrical engineering, and experience with multinational projects. Site commissioning and MTech are considered assets.

Qualifications

• Experience in high voltage substation secondary design min 7 years with voltage levels 15kV up to 500kV.
• BTech/BE in electrical and electronics engineering.
• Worked in multinational projects with team management exposure.
• MTech degree and site commissioning experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of power system studies is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Timely completion of all deliverables.
• Review CRP (control relay panels) and automation drawings from vendors.
• Interact with site execution and cluster teams for design clarifications.
• Coordinate with vendors on technical specifications and quality comments.
• Prepare design calculations of CT/VT and DC/AC SLDs for substation.
• Review bill of materials and tender quantities.
• Pre-tender engineering including BOM estimation and offer reviews.

Job Description

As lead secondary design engineer-substations the person shall be capable of creating & reviewing & executing secondary engineering / electrical design activities for substation/ power distribution projects. She/he will -review BOQ -check vendor offers for protection relays/SAS/LVAC and DC systems-generate Single Line Diagram(SLD) / protection and control SLD / interlocking schemes / cable schedules / review schematics / propose SAS signal lists and detailed design drawings along with drafters -will prepare calculations e.g. Ct sizing / battery dg sizing / cable sizing / lv cable estimation etc. Will deliver outcomes on time as per project needs.

Job specification

Experience in high voltage substation secondary design min 7 years with voltage levels 15kv up to500kv covering both AIS and GIS. Having BTech-BSc equivalent degree in electrical and electronics engineering. Worked in multinational projects. Able to manage a team of engineers and drafters. MTech degree and site commissioning experience is an asset. Working level knowledge on power system studies is desired.

• Interact with site execution & cluster teams for clarification w.r.t. The design of equipment
• Interact with vendor for clarification w.r.t. Compliances to technical specifications & comments and quality
• Coordinate with primary design engineer obtaining specification requirement of the client and checklist for evaluation from the project engineering managers
• Evaluate technical offers based on technical specification (requirement) of the client and timely submission to design lead (secondary) for review
• Prepare design calculations of CT / VT and battery sizing and development of dc & ac single line diagrams of a substation and submitting to the design lead for checking
• Review bill of material and comparing with the tender quantity
• Pre-tender engineering including estimation of BOM (bill of materials) and offer reviews for secondary equipment
