Job Description (Principal)
Reports to: The principal
Role: The principal’s role is both academic and administrative; the principal ensures the general implementation of the school’s academic, pastoral and administrative processes. The principal oversees and evaluates staff performance and professional development.
Curriculum Development
- Supervising curriculum outlines in collaboration with the curriculum coordinator
- Curriculum supervision needs to ensure that:
- Curriculum is mapped to include (integration cross‑curricular links)
- Effective upward spiraling of the curriculum (Scope and Sequence)
- Modified to include provisions for SEND students / Emirati Students
- Selecting curriculum‑related resources as aligned with the state standards
- Liaising with KHDA for legislative requirements
Supervising Staff Professional Development and Performance
- Consults with the PD coordinator in drafting the annual professional development plan
- Reviews the PD plan to ensure effective provisions of training opportunities as required by the teachers
- Supervises class observation schedules
- Monitors the implementation of the PD plan
- Supervises staff performance management in collaboration with the PD coordinator
- Evaluates teachers’ performance and target setting
- Consults with head of school team leaders on staff continuation of services
- Updates the principal on staff performance
Pastoral Care
- Regulating class lists in consultation with the registrar and heads of school to ensure classes are grouped dynamically with abilities and gender balanced
- Ensures that health and safety is maintained as per the health and safety policies
- Meets regularly with supervisors and heads of school to review supervision duties to maximize safety
- Ensures that foods and beverages served by the school cafeteria meet high standards as expected by DHA
- Drafts behavior health and safety policies
- Supervises meetings with parents, teachers and heads of school regarding behavior or academic challenges
- Collaborates with the services manager in school planning and ensuring cleaning of the premises meets high standards
Extra‑Curricular Activities
- Supervises assembly plans ensuring they are linked to relevant topics, culture appropriate and aligned to the school’s vision, mission and core values
- Plans extra‑curricular activities aligned to the core values
- Supervises planning of trips ensuring they are extended learning opportunities linked to the topics or concepts taught in class
- Plans concerts with heads of school team leaders
Member of the PTA (Parent‑Teacher Association)
- Attends PTA meetings
- Ensures confidentiality is maintained and reports meeting minutes to the Principal
- Collaborates with the PRE (Parents‑Relations Executive) for effective communication between parents and teachers
- Follows up on parental concerns regarding behavior and academics
Recruitment
- Shortlists potential candidates
- Supervises the panel of interviewers in the recruiting process
- Monitors the orientation and induction process for newly recruited staff in collaboration with team leaders and heads of schools
Finances
- Assists the financial executive in drafting the annual budget plan
- Regulates requisitions for purchases of classroom resources
- Approves requisitions for extracurricular activities (concerts, assemblies, ASA)
- Assists in record‑keeping: completion of records and reports, and supervision and inventory of necessary supplies, textbooks, equipment, and materials
Benefits & Salary
Salary Offered: 35K‑40K AED. Includes medical insurance and air tickets for self.
