Job summary

Zayed University invites applications for a Scholarly Communications Librarian to lead university-wide efforts in copyright, open access, digital scholarship, and research metrics. You will partner across units to enhance visibility and impact of scholarly works and manage repository activities.

The role requires a MLIS, 4+ years in academic librarianship, and strong communication skills to engage faculty, students, and researchers while advancing the library’s scholarly communications program.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent.
• Certification or demonstrated expertise in open access, copyright, research data management, or digital publishing is preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of demonstrated experience as an academic librarian with knowledge in copyright, intellectual property, open access and publishing, repository metadata, collection development, information literacy instructions, reference services, and curriculum support.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and coordination for programs that enhance the university's research lifecycle and publication output.
• Acts as lead consultant on copyright, fair use, and intellectual property in digital and classroom environments.
• Champions open access by managing initiatives and programs promoting open access and publishing.
• Collaborates on administration of the university’s institutional repository and improves discoverability of works.
• Coordinates the collection, submission, and preservation of scholarly outputs.
• Increases visibility and accessibility of institutional research.
• Guides researchers in using traditional and alternative metrics to evaluate influence of their work.
• Advises on challenges like predatory publishing, academic integrity, and AI's impact on research.
