Job summary

GEMS Education in the UAE is seeking an experienced Safeguarding Lead to guide safeguarding and child protection across the school while maintaining a reduced teaching timetable. You will work with the Principal, SLT, and external agencies to ensure student safety and wellbeing in an international context.

The role requires a recognised teaching qualification, UAE-approved credentials, and substantial safeguarding experience.

Qualifications

• A recognised teaching qualification (B.Ed, PGCE or equivalent).
• Relevant bachelor’s degree meeting UAE teacher approval requirements.
• Minimum of three years’ teaching experience in a recognised school.
• Significant safeguarding experience, ideally as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures, child protection practice and case management.

Responsibilities

• Lead safeguarding and child protection across the school with high standards of safety and wellbeing.
• Serve as the school’s primary contact for safeguarding concerns and referrals.
• Maintain confidential safeguarding records in line with requirements.
• Collaborate with Principal and SLT on safeguarding matters.
• Provide safeguarding training to staff and support ongoing guidance.
