Job summary

Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi is seeking a Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Barback to join our esteemed team. You will assist the bar and service team, ensuring smooth operations and a memorable dining experience for guests.

Based in the Emirates Palace property, you will work under the Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Manager, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, stock management, and guest engagement in a luxury setting.

Qualifications

• Previous Food & Beverage experience, preferably in a bar, restaurant, hotel, or luxury hospitality environment.
• Basic knowledge of bar operations, beverages, and service standards.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Good attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and stock replenishment.
• Positive attitude, professional appearance, and strong teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in English; additional language skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Set-up the bar, including daily cleaning of all bar areas, equipment, dishwasher, stock up fridges and stations, and prepare mise en place prior to the start of each shift.
• Assist with stock count and ensure the restaurant has adequate supplies for the shift.
• During service, prepare hot drinks, clean coffee machine, replenish stations, and wash utensils and glassware.
• Ensure stations and bar area remain clean throughout service.
• Assist in setting up the bar for special or private events as per briefing.
• Attend to bar guests, provide feedback to managers, and ensure guests receive the brand experience.
• Study and learn all menus and attend training to describe ingredients and preparation to guests.
• Provide courteous, professional, attentive, and efficient service at all times.
• Be familiar with the operation layout and locations of equipment.
• Understand restaurant operation and adapt to changes as directed by managers.
• Attend staff briefings/meetings and related activities.
• Support new recruits through on-the-job training.
• Maintain high personal presentation and report for duty punctually.

About The Job

Based at the Emirates palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Department, The Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Barback is responsible for assisting the team in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the restaurant, providing a prompt and professional service to the guests, and be responsible for creating a memorable dining experience within the restaurant. The Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Barback reports to the Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Bar Manager.

As Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Barback, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Set-up the bar, including but not limited to: daily cleaning of all bar areas, equipment, dishwasher, stock up fridges and stations, prepare mise en place prior the start of each shift.


• Assist with stock count and, at all times, ensuring the restaurant has adequate supplies for the shift, including all crockery, glassware, cutlery, condiments, fresh fruit and herbs, etc.


• During service, prepare hot drinks to the required standard, clean coffee machine and all hot drink equipment, replenish stations when required and wash utensils, glassware and crockery after each use.


• Ensure the stations and the bar area are of utmost cleanliness throughout service.


• Assist in setting up the bar for any special or private events as per briefing.


• Attend to bar guests at all times, regularly providing feedback to Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Managers, ensuring every guest has received the brand experience and immediately inform Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Managers should a guest not be content with their dining experience.


• Take the initiative to study and learn all menus and attend food and beverage training to understand the ingredients and cooking/creation method of each dish/beverage to be able to describe these to the guest when required.


• Provide a courteous, professional, attentive, and efficient service at all times with customers, staff and suppliers alike.


• Be fully conversant with the geographical layout of the operation and to know the exact whereabouts of all equipment of an operational nature.


• Have a complete understanding of the restaurant operation and respond to any changes in the restaurant function as requested by the Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Manager.


• Attend and contribute to all staff briefings/meetings and other related activities.


• Support new recruits through on the job training.


• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, and as per the personal presentation policy, and report for duty punctually, wearing the appropriate attire.
