Overview

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide radiation treatment services to patients as part of a multidisciplinary team according to professional and regulatory requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Responsible for the accurate simulation planning and delivery of radiation treatment

Perform treatment simulation and/or tumour localisation on CT scanner and image registration with MRI PET CT etc. where necessary

Produce customised beam modification or immobilisation devices when necessary

Perform pre-treatment checks and documentation

Deliver prescribed dose of radiation according to the approved treatment plan in accordance with established practices and standards

Ensure all required radiation safety principles are implemented and followed to ensure the safety of the patients and team members

Educate patients about the side effects of treatment management of toxicitys as per departmental protocol and pre-treatment preparation

Contribute to quality management and clinical education

REQUIRED EDUCATION

A Bachelors Degree in Radiotherapy from a recognised institution

Current license from home country and/or place of workas a Therapeutic Radiographer or equivalent

A valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate accredited by American Heart Association (AHA)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years postgraduate experience in Radiation Therapy

Relevant experience with linear accelerator simulators and/or CT and treatment planning systems and mould room techniques

Experience with various techniques such as 3DCRT VMAT Gating IGRT SBRT SRS etc.

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and VARIAN applications
  • Radiotherapy equipment and techniques such as IGRT IMRT and Respiratory Gating
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic will be an advantage)
