The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to construction projects, from initial estimates through final accounts. The role ensures projects are delivered within approved budgets while maintaining quality, contractual compliance, and value for money.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities (BOQs) based on drawings and specifications
- Monitor project costs and cash flow throughout the project lifecycle
- Evaluate and certify contractor progress payments and variations
- Prepare and assess variations, claims, and change orders
- Conduct cost control, value engineering, and risk analysis to optimize project expenditure
- Assist in tender preparation, tender evaluation, and contract award processes
- Prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and cost reports
- Review subcontractor quotations and negotiate contract terms
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and project requirements
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultants, and contractors on commercial matters
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management
- Relevant experience in quantity surveying within construction or real estate projects
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, BOQs, and cost management principles
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and UAE construction practices is an advantage
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contractual documents
