Overview

HVAC PROJECT ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Key responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings, and BOQ; clarify HVAC scope and prepare material and manpower plans.
• Coordinate with consultants, main contractors, and internal teams for technical approvals, RFIs, and inspections.
• Supervise site execution of ducting, piping, equipment installation, testing and commissioning (chillers, AHU, FCU, VRF, ventilation, controls).
• Monitor progress, update lookahead programs, and ensure timely completion while controlling cost and variations.
• Ensure compliance with design, quality standards, safety rules, and local authority requirements (e.g. municipality, Civil Defence where applicable).

Typical qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC/Building Services Engineering.
• 35 years of experience in HVAC project execution, ideally in MEP/HVAC contracting environment. (GCC Experience)
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems (chillers, DX, VRF, pumps, ducting, controls) and relevant standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; knowledge of Revit, load calculation software (e.g. HAP) and MS Project/Primavera is often preferred.

Skills and competencies

• Strong project coordination, planning, and site supervision skills.
• Good communication with clients, consultants, and subcontractors, with ability to handle technical meetings and site issues.
• Problem-solving ability for site constraints, design conflicts, and commissioning issues.
