Overview
Project Cost Controller – Expression of Interest – Short Term 8 months. Wood is recruiting for a Project Cost Controller to join its UAE Business Unit focusing on cost; planning, scheduling and risk assessment support for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Dubai, UAE.
This role is a full-time residential role based in Dubai, UAE with travel requirement.
Responsibilities
- Leads the cost; planning, scheduling and risk assessment support to assignments / project teams and clients, typically on smaller projects.
- Set up and run all required project controls systems, tools, and interfaces to allow successful management and reporting of the project costs, schedule and risks on projects and specific assignments.
- Hands-on role focusing on both project and service delivery and, at times, resource management.
- Interface with several key stakeholders across the project and wider business.
- Primary focal point for the Project Manager, Client or Project Team for all matters relating to project costs, schedules, and risk; and resources requirements.
- Ensure that a professional Project Controls service is delivered by the team to internal and external customers.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Act as the focal point with the client and contractor Project Controllers to ensure costs and progress are reported accurately and aligned with project reporting requirements.
- Monitor overall project progress, milestones, and performance against plan.
- Identify and report on potential slippages via the critical path, providing early warning to the Project Manager.
- Manage communications essential for delivery of cost, planning, scheduling and risk deliverables.
- Report project status and KPI to management; produce weekly and monthly project cost and planning status reports.
- Implement the project Work Breakdown Structure and cost and planning control structures.
- Lead the project work approval process, including cost code allocation and budget setup/approvals.
- Forecast budgets and assess the impact of change requests on budgets and schedules.
- Support Project Accountants and Billing Specialists as required.
- Monitor and evaluate subcontractor progress; assist with quantifying subcontractor scopes for RFQs.
- Maintain project S-curves and histograms; create fully resourced, logic-linked Gantt charts as required.
- Monitor current and forecast future resource needs and lead recovery from slippages.
- Develop and issue project change orders/variations in line with contract processes; promote change management practices.
- Attend client progress meetings when required; facilitate proposal schedules and CTR packs.
- Lead cost and schedule risk analysis workshops; manage project risks per local standards.
- Ensure project controls processes and procedures are accurate, up to date and followed.
- Coordinate with clients to ensure delivery meets quality, time and budget specifications.
- Ensure cost, planning and risk deliverables are accurate and complete prior to issue.
- Ensure project tools and systems are set up and functioning; supervise the project controls team as required.
- Support staff performance and competency reviews.

Expected
- Typically requires ISCED level 6 (Bachelors) Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent through vocational training and/or industry experience).
Knowledge, skills, and experience
- Typically requires a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant industry experience, with at least six (6) years in project control positions.
- Knowledge of Contracts Management, Commercial Management and Project Management principles.
- Working knowledge of earned value and other monitoring techniques.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Working knowledge of risk management processes and capability to facilitate risk workshops.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Primavera.
