Job summary

Worley is a global professional services company delivering energy, chemicals and resources projects. We are seeking a Process Engineer to support design, calculations, and documentation for onshore/offshore facilities in the UAE.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, applying best practices to meet client specifications and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include preparing process SoWs, estimating manhours, and coordinating with other disciplines to ensure project success.

Qualifications

  • Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience in process engineering for oil and gas facilities onshore/offshore is required.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and API standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support adherence to engineering practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Prepare process scope of work (SoW) with clear manhour budgets and schedules.
  • Estimate process manhours using current TW norms and ensure work is checked and approved.
  • Coordinate with disciplines to ensure project success and manage change documentation.
  • Provide technical support within the discipline team and liaise with project teams.

Primary Objectives / Responsibilities
  • Supports adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
  • Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
  • Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence.
  • Supports the processes for checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
  • Ensure recognized onshore & offshore engineering practices applicable to process design are adopted.
  • Prepares design specifications for process works.
  • Knows the discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Supports management of project change and progressing for the discipline and works with the Project Management Team to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progressing, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability.
  • Plans discipline quality, monitors quality activities, recommends improvements, and takes action where required.
  • Provide technical support within the discipline team, liaise with the project team, and consult with relevant resources as required.
  • Coordinate review and approval of design and interfaces on client requirements and specifications.
  • Prepare Process scope of work (SoW) and seek agreement from supervising Senior/ Lead Process Engineer (or designated representative). The Process SoW must clearly state the work scope, manhour budget and schedule to complete the work.
  • Estimate Process manhours for any job using the current TW Process manhour norms.
  • Ensure all work is checked and approved before issue.
  • Responsible for maintaining work progress (budget, schedule) and raising change documentation where necessary.
  • Supervision of Process design work, budget and schedule in Project work where requested by the Lead Process Engineer.
  • Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares engineering studies, analyses, calculations, etc.
  • Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, establishes pros/cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc.
  • Creates final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursues customer approval.
  • Perform discipline specific engineering services such as:
    • Identify and report changes to project scope;
    • Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions;
    • Assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports;
    • Provide assistance during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
Job Specific Knowledge:
  • Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to HSE management and its associated requirements in a project environment.
  • Has an intermediate understanding of regulations, codes and industry standard practices.
  • Has a good understanding of onshore & offshore engineering practices applicable to process design for oil and gas/refinery/petrochemical facilities.
  • Good working knowledge to carry out process calculations, equipment sizing, good HYSYS simulation concept and hands on experience.
  • Effective technical and practical engineering skills, and able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its clients.
  • A good working knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the process discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines.
  • A good working knowledge of Shell DEP’s, API Standards (API-520, API-521, API-14C, API-14E) and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Competent in the use of relevant software and process discipline specific software.
Industry Specific Experience:
  • Experience in process engineering experience in oil and gas for offshore and onshore projects
  • Experience in engineering in offshore same or similar industry, including experience in multi-disciplinary projects and teams. Site experience is an advantage and willingness to travel to site and work in an operation support environment is essential.
  • Excellent Process Simulation Skills for Plant and Pipelines is Essential.
