Job summary

EDGE seeks experienced System Test & Verification Engineers to support the test, verification, and acceptance of a complex Defence Tactical Data Link, C2 system. You will plan, coordinate, and execute verification activities across the programme lifecycle, ensuring requirements, interfaces, and performance objectives are fully evidenced and traceable.

Qualifications

• Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics, or Computer Science.
• 10+ years of test and verification experience in defence communications, C4ISR, or mission-critical systems.
• Understanding of systems engineering and lifecycle processes.
• Experience designing and executing structured V&V activities, including test planning and complex test case design.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to communicate technical issues clearly.
• Experience in complex defence engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain verification plans, strategies, acceptance criteria, and test methodologies (automated & manual) for Defence Communications and C2 systems.
• Analyze system/subsystem requirements to determine verification methods and support traceability in the MBSE environment.
• Develop and execute test cases spanning system/user acceptance, functional, interface, network, operational scenario, performance, and regression testing.
• Support integration lab, factory acceptance, site acceptance, and operational acceptance activities.
• Record, analyze, and report test results and anomalies via formal test metrics and Defect Reports.
• Use automated toolsets for HMI, API, and network-level testing; manage defects and issues.

About The Role

We are seeking experienced System Test & Verification Engineers to support the test, verification, and acceptance of a complex Defence Tactical Data Link, Communications, and Command & Control (C2) system. The role covers planning, coordinating, and executing system verification activities across the programme lifecycle, as well as supporting earlier requirements, design, and integration phases, ensuring system requirements, interfaces, operational behaviours, and performance objectives are fully evidenced, verified, and traceable. It involves close collaboration with systems engineering, software, hardware, integration, security, safety, and customer teams within a highly regulated defence environment, primarily working within the programme's MBSE and requirements management environment (Enterprise Architect and Jama Connect).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain verification plans, strategies, acceptance criteria, and test methodologies (automated & manual) for Defence Communications and C2 systems
• Analyse system/subsystem requirements to determine appropriate verification methods and support traceability within the programme's digital engineering environment
• Develop and execute test cases spanning system/user acceptance, functional, interface, network, operational scenario, performance, and regression testing
• Support integration lab, factory acceptance, site acceptance, and operational acceptance activities
• Record, analyse, and report test results and anomalies via formal test metrics, evidence, Summary Test Reports, and Defect Reports
• Use automated toolsets for HMI, API, and network-level test and demonstration activities; manage defects and issues

Basic Qualifications

• Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related discipline
• 10+ years of experience in test and verification activities within defence communications, C4ISR, or mission-critical systems
• Understanding of systems engineering and system lifecycle processes
• Experience developing and executing structured verification activities, including V&V methodologies, test planning, and complex test case design
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate technical issues clearly
• Comfortable operating within complex defence engineering environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within Defence Communications Systems, Tactical Data Links, C2 systems, C4ISR environments, or mission systems programmes
• Knowledge of Jama Connect for requirements and test management
• Knowledge of Enterprise Architect for MBSE
• Familiarity with agile and incremental development approaches
• Experience using AI for manual and automated test case generation
• Knowledge of security and safety verification activities; Foundation/Intermediate ISTQB Software Testing Certification
