Job summary

EDGE invites an accomplished Principal Engineer Firmware for Halcon to drive architecture, development, integration, and certification of mission-critical firmware for defence systems. You will lead engineering excellence, guide teams, establish best practices, and shape long-term technology strategy.

In this role you will mentor engineers, chair design reviews, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver robust firmware solutions that meet regulated industry requirements.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer Firmware for Halcon to provide technical leadership in the design, development, integration, and certification of advanced firmware solutions for mission-critical defence systems. The role will drive engineering excellence, guide development teams, establish best practices, and support long-term technology strategy and capability growth.

Basic Qualifications

• Lead the architecture, design, development, integration, and verification of FPGA and microcontroller-based firmware systems.
• Establish and enforce firmware engineering standards, certification practices, and development methodologies in accordance with industry and defence requirements.
• Chair technical design reviews and oversee the development of Firmware Requirements Specifications and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
• Mentor and develop engineering teams while contributing to technology roadmaps, tool strategies, and future firmware capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Honours, or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in FPGA and/or microcontroller firmware development.
• Proven expertise in firmware architecture, coding, verification, testing, hardware integration, and systems engineering processes.
• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting software/firmware certification, classification, compliance, or assurance activities within regulated industries.
