Volantes Technical Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Principal Electrical Systems Engineer in the UAE to take technical ownership of the aircraft electrical system from design to testing. The role covers electrical generation, power management, avionics and cabin power, wiring, safety and charging interfaces.
The successful candidate will drive the electrical architecture through maturity and may specialise in power management, wiring systems or charging/ground power as the programme grows.
Location: UAE
We are looking for a Principal Electrical Systems Engineer to take technical ownership of the aircraft electrical system.
This is a broad role covering electrical generation and distribution, power management, avionics and cabin power, wiring, electrical safety, and aircraft charging interfaces. You will work closely with other engineering disciplines to develop and mature the electrical architecture from early design through to installed hardware and testing.
As the programme grows, there will be opportunities for the electrical function to develop into more specialised areas such as power management, wiring systems, and charging/ground power.
Own the aircraft electrical load analysis and power budget, including different flight phases and failure scenarios.
Design low-voltage electrical generation, conversion and distribution systems.
Develop essential and emergency electrical bus architectures, including load-shedding strategies.
Provide electrical power solutions for avionics, mission, medical and cabin systems.
Lead the design of the wiring interconnection system, including harness routing, separation, grounding, bonding, connectors and protection.
Own the aircraft charging and ground power interface, including protection, isolation and electrical requirements.
Define requirements for high-voltage to low-voltage power conversion and work with the relevant engineering teams to agree system interfaces.
Support electrical safety assessments, including failure modes, loss-of-bus scenarios and essential load requirements.
Support electrical qualification, installation testing and integration activities, including power quality and bonding measurements.
10+ years' experience in aircraft electrical systems engineering.
At least 4 years working on aircraft programmes through to installed hardware.
Proven experience owning an aircraft electrical load analysis and power budget through design maturity.
Strong experience in low-voltage distribution and electrical bus architecture.
Experience with essential/emergency power systems and load shedding.
Strong knowledge of wiring interconnection systems, including routing, separation, bonding, grounding and installation.
Experience with electrical protection, isolation, fault behaviour and protection coordination.
Experience supporting electrical certification, qualification and installation testing.
Experience working on electric or hybrid-electric aircraft.
Experience designing aircraft charging or ground power interfaces.
Knowledge of lightning protection and HIRF.
Experience with harness design tools and electrical data management within PLM systems.
Experience with hot-climate aircraft installations and electrical derating.
