Job summary

First Point Group in Dubai, UAE seeks a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical design and technical delivery across hyperscale and mission-critical data centre projects from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

Detailed Job Description:

As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer at First Point Group in Dubai, UAE, you will serve as the technical authority driving high-availability electrical systems for hyperscale data centres. Your daily responsibilities will encompass reviewing resilient power architecture (UPS, generators, power distribution units), solving complex engineering bottlenecks, ensuring rigorous design quality across multiple concurrent projects, and mentoring engineering teams. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead electrical design and technical delivery across hyperscale and mission-critical data centre projects.
• Oversee project lifecycles from concept design through detailed engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Review and validate resilient power architectures, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), backup generators, and electrical distribution systems.
• Solve complex technical challenges and electrical engineering anomalies during design and site execution.
• Engage proactively with international clients, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure alignment with project specifications.
• Mentor, guide, and develop junior electrical engineers and technical design staff.
• Maintain rigorous design quality assurance, compliance with international standards, and engineering documentation control.

• Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and integrated systems testing (IST).

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 8+ years of professional electrical engineering experience with a strong focus on mission-critical facilities or data centres.
• Proven expertise in designing resilient power distribution systems, medium/low voltage networks, generators, and UPS architecture.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and technical delivery.
• Excellent client-facing communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail in complex engineering environments.
• Deep familiarity with international electrical codes, safety standards, and data centre design guidelines (Uptime Institute, TIA-942).
• Mandatory residency/work authorization: Ability to work in Dubai, UAE.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Professional Engineering licensure (PE, CEng, or equivalent chartership).
• Prior experience working within top-tier international engineering consultancies or hyperscale cloud provider infrastructure teams.
• Advanced knowledge of sustainability, energy efficiency (PUE optimization), and renewable integration in data centres.
• Experience with advanced electrical simulation and modeling software (ETAP, SKM PowerTools).
• Immediate availability for mobilization in Dubai.
