Job summary

Serco in the UAE seeks an Assistant Technician Power Distribution - Medium Voltage to perform preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on MV/LV power distribution systems. The role includes reading electrical drawings, conducting functional tests on MV components, and contributing to safety and reliability of operations.

The candidate should have an ITI Diploma in Electrical Maintenance, IOSH Working Safely, and at least three years of relevant experience in a power substation or

Qualifications

• ITI diploma in Electrical Maintenance or equivalent is required.
• Valid IOSH Working Safely certification is required or equivalent.
• Excellent command of English (spoken and written) is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on MV/LV power distribution systems individually or as part of a team.
• Read, interpret and describe electrical drawings, circuit diagrams, wiring layouts irrespective of manufacturer.
• Perform MV transformer and switchgear tests and maintenance; support and lead periodic preventive maintenance and fault troubleshooting.

Job description

We are looking for Assistant Technician Power Distribution - Medium Voltage to carryout preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on medium voltage power distribution related systems and assets individually or as part of a technical team, whilst ensuring minimal disruption to the business operations.

Key accountabilities

• Ability to conform to all general and technical safety requirements at all times to ensure the health, safety & welfare of self and others at work
• Any other work as assigned by the electrical supervisor/duty engineer to achieve the purpose
• Can read interpret and describe the functionality of electrical drawings (circuit and wiring diagrams/schematic and layout drawings) irrespective of manufacturer
• Ring Main Unit Functional tests, Replacement of Fuses, inspection and maintenance of internal components.
• MV Transformer functional tests and inspection and maintenance of internal components.
• Intrusive & non-intrusive maintenance on MV switchgears, Earth Testing Programs & Thermal image surveys
• Assist and work as a lead person for Periodic Preventive Maintenance, Breakdown Trouble Shooting, Inspections, Condition Assessment, Condition Based Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance & Configuration and Modifications

Skills

• Industrial Training Institute Diploma (3-year duration) in Electrical Maintenance or equivalent (post high school)
• IOSH Working Safely Certificate or equivalent
• Minimum three (3) year experience within Power Substation environment or similar.
• This position requires a very good level of spoken and written English.
• Ability to perform safely and correctly the following on Medium Voltage (MV) & Low voltage (LV) equipment and systems:
• Electrical Isolations and LOTO, Planned preventative maintenance (PM) routines, Corrective maintenance (CM), Breakdown maintenance (BD)
