Job summary

MBZUAI in Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to advance cryoSTEM-based foundation models for computational biology and machine learning. You will train large GPU-accelerated systems on multi-terabyte cryoSTEM datasets and lead sub-projects with graduate students.

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Min Xu and Dr. Ho, contributing to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in computational microscopy, bioimage informatics, and parallel ML systems.

Qualifications

• PhD required in CS/EE/AI/Biomedical Imaging/Computational Biology.
• Strong publication record in computational microscopy, CV, or parallel ML.
• Willingness to bridge domains to computational microscopy / CV / ML.
• Experience with biomedical imaging, EM data preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand CryoSTEM Microscopy: become deeply familiar with the physics and operation of cryoSTEM microscopes.
• Design Foundation Models: create new model architectures for cryoSTEM data and their data pipeline.
• Parallel Model Training: deploy parallel computing systems for training large-scale cryoSTEM foundation models.
• Project Leadership: manage complex research sub-projects and milestones.
• Mentorship: guide and mentor graduate students and junior researchers.
• Academic Output: author high-impact publications and deliverables.
