Key Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced research in artificial intelligence, robotics, computer vision, machine learning, control systems, and secure autonomous systems.
• Design algorithms for robotics applications, neural network security, anomaly detection, adversarial machine learning, autonomous robots, and computer vision systems.
• Implement research prototypes using tools such as MATLAB, Python, C, C , Linux, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Robot Operating System.
• Deploy machine learning and control algorithms to robotics platforms, onboard computational hardware, and embedded system environments.
• Support experimental testing and validation of algorithms on unmanned vehicle systems, robotic platforms, and autonomous vehicle swarm applications.
• Investigate neural network vulnerabilities, adversarial attacks, anomaly detection methods, and defensive approaches for AI-based robotics systems.
• Develop robust machine learning models and computer vision pipelines suitable for real-world robotics and autonomous systems research.
• Collaborate with post-doctoral associates, PhD students, undergraduate students, faculty members, and researchers across NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU New York.
• Prepare research papers, technical reports, presentations, experiment documentation, and project updates for internal and external audiences.
• Contribute to high-quality publications in AI, robotics, machine learning, computer vision, security, embedded systems, and control-related venues.
• Participate in multidisciplinary research discussions, laboratory meetings, technical reviews, and collaborative project planning.
• Maintain strong experimental standards, including reproducible code, proper documentation, validated results, and careful analysis of system performance.

Ideal Profile

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Controls, Computer Vision, or a related field.
• Less than 5 years of experience after receiving the PhD.
• Strong research background in AI, robotics, computer vision, controls, autonomous systems, machine learning, or secure intelligent systems.
• Demonstrated publication record in relevant areas such as neural network vulnerabilities and defenses, anomaly detection, adversarial machine learning, robotics, computer vision, or autonomous robots.
• Solid competency in standard machine learning and embedded system implementation tools, including C, C , Linux, PyTorch, TensorFlow, MATLAB, Python, and Robot Operating System.
• Experience designing algorithms, building prototypes, deploying systems to robotics applications, and conducting experimental testing.
• Familiarity with unmanned vehicle systems, robotic swarms, onboard computational hardware, or autonomous system platforms is highly valuable.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate models, test assumptions, interpret experimental results, and refine research methods.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills for publications, research statements, presentations, and collaborative work.
• Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment.
