Wood is recruiting an experienced PMC Senior / specialist Lifting Engineer for our ADNOC Gas PMC team within the Oil, Gas & New Energies business. The position is full‑time, site‑based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Role Overview
Responsible for developing comprehensive lifting plans, monitoring costs, ensuring compliance, managing risks, coordinating with stakeholders, and overseeing construction and contractor‑related lifting deliverables.
Key Objectives
- Develop comprehensive lifting plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies to ensure safe and efficient execution of lifting operations.
- Monitor lifting‑related expenses, prevent overspending, and maintain financial efficiency throughout the project.
- Maintain high construction and lifting standards, ensure compliance with local and international regulations, and conduct regular inspections of lifting equipment and operations.
- Identify potential risks in lifting activities, implement mitigation strategies, and enforce strict safety protocols to protect personnel and assets.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to align lifting plans with overall project goals and resolve technical challenges promptly.
- Implement eco‑friendly practices in lifting operations and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability objectives.
- Oversee construction and contractor‑related lifting deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Supervise lifting operations across all areas on small projects or specific lifting disciplines on larger projects.
- Manage and execute multiple lifting‑related field disciplines or assigned subsets of construction projects in line with contract requirements and company policies.
- Ensure lifting activities are executed according to quality standards and project specifications.
- Control project cost and schedule for assigned lifting disciplines and ensure timely completion of lifting operations.
- Manage installation, commissioning, and completion activities for lifting equipment and associated materials.
- Coordinate work schedules for lifting personnel to maximize utilization and meet project timelines.
- Monitor lifting work progress and report status against the approved plan.
- Define and communicate safety, quality, and environmental responsibilities to all personnel involved in lifting operations.
- Ensure all lifting personnel receive appropriate training, including health and safety and site‑specific inductions.
- Initiate and enforce safety, quality, and environmental processes within lifting operations, including toolbox talks, inspections, and risk assessments in compliance with company and client requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Computer, Software, Electronic, Marine, Ship‑Captain). Minimum fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in offshore/onshore oil & gas or petrochemical industry, including at least five (5) years (preferred) in GCC region.
- At least five (5) years of experience in a similar position on international major (>1 billion USD) oil & gas or petrochemical projects.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills (written and verbal) and an ability to work with people across a diversity of cultures.
