Job summary

Wood in Abu Dhabi seeks a seasoned PMC Senior Construction Engineer (Civil) to oversee all on-site civil construction activities, ensuring safety, schedule, cost, and quality compliance on ADNOC Onshore projects. You will supervise EPC contractors, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and maintain rigorous documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 15 years of civil construction experience with 5–7 years in a PMC/consultant role.
• Proven onshore oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery or large industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction practices.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, BS, ASTM, Eurocodes).
• Experience with project scheduling tools and construction reporting systems.
• Strong leadership and site coordination skills.
• Onshore project site-based role; rotation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor onshore civil and structural construction works including earthworks, foundations, concrete structures, roads, buildings, drainage, and underground utilities.
• Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules.
• Coordinate daily site activities with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and other discipline teams.
• Review contractor construction plans, work methodologies, schedules, and resource mobilization.
• Track construction progress and report deviations, risks, and mitigation plans to the PMC Construction Manager.
• Interface with engineering, procurement, HSE, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless execution.
• Ensure implementation of approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Review and approve work inspection requests (WIRs) and site technical queries related to civil works.
• Ensure materials and workmanship meet project quality requirements and international standards.
• Enforce strict adherence to project HSE policies, procedures, and local regulatory requirements.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
• Stop unsafe work practices and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Supervise contractor performance and productivity on site.
• Identify construction issues and resolve them in coordination with contractors and engineering teams.
• Review contractor progress reports and verify quantities for progress measurement.
• Maintain accurate site records, daily reports, and progress updates.
• Support preparation of weekly and monthly construction progress reports.
• Review and contribute to as-built documentation and final handover dossiers.

Job Objective

To manage and oversee all civil construction activities on site, ensuring that work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, schedules, and contractual requirements. The role acts as the PMCs civil engineering representative, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders to deliver civil works successfully while minimizing risks and supporting overall project objectives.
