Job summary

Wood in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) to lead offshore installation and construction activities for a major project within a PMC framework. You will align with client specs, regulatory requirements, and project objectives while overseeing contractor performance, offshore operations, and schedules.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering, 20+ years in offshore oil & gas, and 5+ years in senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Marine, Civil, or related discipline).
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in offshore oil & gas projects, with at least 5 years in a senior offshore leadership role.
  • PMC experience on large-scale offshore projects is highly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of offshore installation methods and marine operations.
  • Strong understanding of international codes, standards, and HSE regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all offshore installation and construction activities within schedule and budget.
  • Act as focal point between client, PMC team, and EPC contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and promote safety culture.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to procedures and specs.
  • Coordinate offshore campaigns including heavy lifts, hook-up, and commissioning support.
  • Review method statements, risk assessments, lifting plans, and installation procedures.
  • Manage interfaces between offshore and onshore teams in engineering, procurement and commissioning.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation to avoid delays.
  • Provide progress reports and forecasts to senior management and client.
  • Oversee resource planning, logistics, and offshore workforce management.
  • Ensure permit-to-work systems and SIMOPS coordination are in place.
  • Support project close-out activities including punch lists and handover.

The key objectives for this role are:

The Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of offshore installation and construction activities for a major project under a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) framework. The role ensures alignment with client specifications, regulatory requirements, and project objectives, while overseeing contractor performance, offshore operations, and delivery schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all offshore installation and construction activities, ensuring adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Act as the primary offshore focal point between the client, PMC team, and EPC contractors
  • Ensure full compliance with HSE standards, policies, and procedures, promoting a strong safety culture across all offshore operations
  • Supervise and monitor contractor performance, ensuring work is executed in accordance with approved procedures, specifications, and quality standards
  • Coordinate offshore installation campaigns, including heavy lifts, hook-up, commissioning support, and marine operations
  • Review and approve method statements, risk assessments, lifting plans, and installation procedures
  • Ensure effective interface management between offshore and onshore teams, including engineering, procurement, and commissioning functions
  • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation measures to avoid delays or operational issues
  • Provide regular progress reports, forecasts, and updates to senior management and the client
  • Oversee resource planning, logistics coordination, and offshore workforce management
  • Ensure proper implementation of permit-to-work systems and SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations) coordination
  • Support project close-out activities including punch listing, system handover, and documentation.

Expected:

  • Offshore certifications such as BOSIET, H2S, and valid offshore medical are mandatory
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work under high-pressure conditions and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience in Middle East offshore projects and familiarity with major operator standards is an advantage.
