Job summary

Wood seeks an experienced PMC Technical HSE Lead to oversee health, safety and environmental aspects of a major project in Abu Dhabi. You will advise senior management, liaise with partner companies and supervise HSE programs to achieve project safety objectives for a high-profile client.

Key responsibilities include developing RAMS, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations and international standards, and driving HSE excellence through the Project Leadership Team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. in Engineering with extensive HSE leadership experience.
  • CSP or equivalent certification required; strong English writing/presentation skills.
  • At least 15 years in HSE, with 5+ years in project-related roles; oil & gas background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage project HSE in line with policies and international standards.
  • Develop RAMS and ensure RAMS are implemented to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Lead communications with senior management and partner companies on HSE programs and KPI achievements.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE statutes and ADNOC Offshore HSE policies; drive safety culture across project teams.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PMC Technical HSE Lead with a proven track record in managing health, safety and environmental (HSE) aspects of a project, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, procedures and regulations. The role advises senior project management, liaises with partner companies and oversees HSE programs to achieve project safety objectives for a high‑profile client.

Key Objectives
  • Oversee and manage HSE aspects of the project in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and international standards.
  • Develop and implement project‑specific Risk Assessment Management Systems (RAMS) to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate safety codes, UAE statutes and international standards.
  • Implement HSE best practices from industry standards and project shareholder companies.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of the project HSE program, making use of shareholder expertise and project HSE staff resources to support project management.
  • Drive Project HSE excellence through senior project management visibility and involvement.
  • Engage the Project Leadership Team in the development, review and endorsement of all applicable HSE systems, programs and procedures.
  • Guide, direct, train and motivate project team members to take responsibility for their personal safety and comply with ADNOC Offshore HSE Safety Policy, procedures, rules and accepted safe working practices as well as applicable Abu Dhabi HSE regulations.
  • Establish a system and schedule for conducting regular Project Safety Steering Team (SST) meetings, including senior project management and management representatives from major contracting companies.
  • Maintain regular communication with ADNOC Offshore Corporate HSE counterparts in shareholder companies and major project contract companies.
  • Recommend HSE staff resources necessary to achieve HSE program objectives.
  • Provide functional guidance to HSE staff working under different Project Management Teams.
  • Ensure project HSE requirements are included in Invitation to Tender (ITT) packages and participate in tender evaluations.
  • Review HSE related plans from contract companies, provide comments and endorse as appropriate.
  • Ensure project HSE kick‑off meetings are conducted with major contractors prior to site mobilization.
  • Develop and implement HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and renew them annually with senior project management endorsement.
  • Implement a system for prompt incident notification, reporting, investigation and corrective action tracking by line management.
  • Collect and analyze HSE performance data and trends.
  • Implement a Safety Observation and Intervention program to foster workforce safety involvement.
  • Review and provide HSE support for Value Assurance Process (VAP) and Stage Decision Support Packages (DSP).
  • Act as the project Security Point of Contact (POC) with ADNOC Offshore.
  • Guide the design and delivery of in‑house HSE training.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of project Emergency Response Procedures and conduct emergency drills as planned.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of industry experience (Oil & Gas industry experience strongly desired).
  • At least 5 years of project‑related activities.
  • Minimum of 10 years of HSE related experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of supervisory/managerial experience.
  • In possession of a current internationally recognised Professional Certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar).
  • Proficient in English, with excellent writing and presentation skills.
