Job summary

Qureos is seeking a PLC & SCADA Engineer responsible for design, programming, testing, commissioning, and maintaining PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for water and wastewater plants.

Role requires integrating instrumentation, electrical systems, VFDs, and analyzers to ensure reliable plant operation and compliance with project specs. Dubai-based on-site role with extensive Siemens/Rockwell/Schneider platforms experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 3–8 years of experience in industrial automation.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Water or Wastewater Treatment projects.

Responsibilities

• Design PLC control systems for water and wastewater plants.
• Develop PLC software per project specs and design documents.
• Design and configure SCADA and HMI for plant monitoring and control.
• Prepare control philosophies, I/O lists, network architecture, and automation documentation.
• Review P&IDs, electrical drawings, and control panel drawings.
• Develop PLC programs for treatment processes with specified communications protocols.

Job Description:

The PLC & SCADA Engineer is responsible for the design, programming, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for water and wastewater treatment plants. The role involves integrating instrumentation, electrical systems, VFDs, analyzers, and field devices to ensure reliable plant operation and compliance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

• Design PLC control systems for water and wastewater treatment plants.
• Develop PLC software in accordance with project specifications and functional design documents.
• Design and configure SCADA and HMI applications for plant monitoring and control.
• Prepare control philosophies, I/O lists, network architecture, and automation documentation.
• Review P&IDs, electrical drawings, and control panel drawings.

PLC Programming

• Develop PLC programs for treatment processes:
• Configure communication protocols such as:
  • Modbus RTU/TCP
  • Profibus
  • Profinet
  • Ethernet/IP
  • OPC

SCADA Development

• Develop graphical SCADA screens.
• Configure alarms and event logging.
• Configure historical trending and reporting.
• Implement user access levels and security.
• Integrate PLCs with SCADA servers.

Commissioning

• Perform FAT (Factory Acceptance Test).
• Perform SAT (Site Acceptance Test).
• Commission PLC and SCADA systems at site.
• Conduct I/O testing and loop checking.
• Troubleshoot automation and communication issues.
• Support plant start-up activities.

Instrumentation & Electrical Coordination

• Interface with field instruments including:
  • Flow meters
  • Pressure transmitters
  • Level transmitters
  • pH analyzers
  • Conductivity analyzers
  • DO analyzers
  • Turbidity analyzers
  • Chlorine analyzers
• Coordinate with electrical and mechanical teams during installation and commissioning.

Documentation

• Prepare:
  • Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
  • Operation Manuals
  • Commissioning Reports
  • As-built Documentation
  • Backup of PLC and SCADA programsoTechnical Reports

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Automation Engineering / Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering.
• 3–8 years of experience in industrial automation.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Water or Wastewater Treatment projects.
