Job summary

VentureX General Trading LLC in the United Arab Emirates seeks an experienced Yard and Plant Manager to oversee large-scale ferrous scrap processing and yard operations. You will lead a team across operators, technicians and supervisors, directing production planning and maintenance to meet targets.

The role requires extensive knowledge of high-capacity hydraulic scrap shears, ferrous scrap grades, and mill requirements, with English fluency and UAE/GCC experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in metal recycling or heavy industrial operations.
• Minimum 5 years in plant/yard management position.
• Proven experience with high-capacity hydraulic scrap shears.
• Strong knowledge of ferrous scrap grades and steel mill requirements.
• Experience managing large-volume yards and multi-shift operations.
• Understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance.
• English required; Arabic/Hindi/Urdu is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage large-scale ferrous scrap processing and yard operations.
• Operate and optimize heavy hydraulic shearing lines (1,000–1,250+ tonne class).
• Plan and maximize production to achieve targets.
• Manage HMS, fabrication scrap, rebar/end-cuttings and other ferrous grades.
• Ensure product sizing, density and quality per mill/export specs.
• Coordinate excavators, material handlers, cranes, loaders, trucks and container loading operations.
• Minimize downtime through preventive maintenance and quick response.
• Lead and develop operators, technicians, supervisors and yard labour.
• Control inventory and dispatch; monitor KPIs like tonnes/hour and cost per tonne.
• Maintain strict HSE, fire-prevention and housekeeping standards.
• Collaborate with purchasing, logistics, quality and senior management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage large-scale ferrous scrap processing and yard operations.
• Operate and optimize heavy hydraulic shearing lines (including 1,000–1,250+ tonne class shears).
• Plan and maximize production to achieve operational targets.
• Manage HMS, fabrication scrap, rebar/end-cuttings and other ferrous grades.
• Ensure product sizing, density and quality as per mill/export specifications.
• Coordinate excavators, material handlers, cranes, loaders, trucks and container-loading operations.
• Minimize downtime through preventive maintenance and quick response.
• Lead and develop operators, technicians, supervisors and yard labour.
• Control inventory, stock management and dispatch.
• Monitor KPIs: tonnes/hour, yield, downtime, power/fuel consumption and processing cost/tonne.
• Maintain strict HSE, fire-prevention and housekeeping standards.
• Work closely with purchasing, logistics, quality and senior management.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• 10+ years' experience in metal recycling, scrap processing or heavy industrial operations.
• Minimum 5 years in a plant/yard management position (preferred).
• Proven experience with high-capacity hydraulic scrap shears.
• Strong knowledge of ferrous scrap grades and steel mill requirements.
• Experience managing large-volume yards and multi-shift operations.
• Understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to increase throughput and reduce downtime/cost.
• UAE/GCC scrap-industry experience is highly preferred.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• English required; Arabic/Hindi/Urdu is an advantage.
