GEMS Cambridge International School, Abu Dhabi is seeking a high-performing Physical Education Teacher to join our team from January 2027. The role focuses on health, fitness and wellbeing, delivering high-quality PE lessons across the whole school and inspiring students to develop physical competence, teamwork and resilience.

You will plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons, contribute to extracurricular sports, monitor progress, and promote inclusive practices while upholding safeguarding

Responsibilities

• Deliver the required PE curriculum with up-to-date subject knowledge across sports, fitness, and health education.
• Create a safe, inclusive environment for all physical activities while maintaining health and safety standards.
• Plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons for students of varying abilities to promote active participation.
• Teach to the educational needs and physical capabilities of individuals and groups.
• Promote physical fitness, teamwork, and positive attitudes towards health and wellbeing.
• Assess and report on student progress, attainment, effort and participation in PE.
• Utilise data to inform practice and support progress in both practical and theoretical components.
• Set high expectations for all students to encourage personal improvement and resilience.
• Contribute to the school development plan related to sport, wellbeing, and student engagement.
• Organise and support extracurricular sports activities, fixtures and school competitions.
• Participate in inter-school events and sports days to promote school spirit.
• Ensure safe use, storage and maintenance of sports equipment and facilities.
• Maintain high standards of discipline, safeguarding and behaviour during PE and events.
• Be a role model for healthy and active lifestyles and communicate progress with stakeholders.
• Work with colleagues to enhance the PE curriculum and whole-school wellbeing initiatives.
• Engage in CPD and stay updated with best practices in PE, coaching and wellbeing.
• Support school events, assemblies and initiatives as required.

Overall Function and Purpose

To teach and educate students in Physical Education according to the guidelines provided by the National Curriculum Framework, under the overall guidance of the competent education authority.

To plan, deliver, and assess engaging PE lessons that support students’ physical development, health awareness, and overall wellbeing, ensuring each student achieves their full potential. Contribute actively to the wider school community, including extracurricular sports provision.

Main Responsibilities

• Deliver the required PE curriculum, demonstrating accurate and up-to-date subject knowledge, including sports, fitness, and health education.
