Responsibilities
- Run the perfusion services smoothly, efficiently, and cost‑effectively.
- Maximise flexibility, teamwork, and innovative working practices.
- Use perfusion resources efficiently.
- Place the needs of patients at the centre of care delivery.
- Ensure the systems in place enable care to be delivered in a suitable and safe environment.
- Identify clinical risks across the service and ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Partner with support staff to meet care, treatment, and service needs and uphold a standard approach to service excellence.
- Provide and demonstrate sound clinical leadership, developing mechanisms for sharing good practices, encouraging and directing innovation in perfusion development.
- Act as a clinical expert within the hospital, disseminating specialised skills and knowledge to all disciplines.
- Maintain and promote effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team and all hospital departments.
- Undertake local audit and research, disseminate findings, and implement recommendations.
- Support departmental research, using information to ensure clinical practice is research‑based and plan and obtain ethical approval where necessary.
- Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, anaesthesiologists, and operating room nurses.
- Operate the heart‑lung machine to provide extracorporeal circulation and oxygenation during cardiac surgeries.
- Set up, calibrate, and monitor bypass equipment and devices, including pumps, blood filters, and reservoirs.
- Provide technical assistance during emergency situations such as cardiac arrest or ECMO initiation.
- Maintain accurate intra‑operative and post‑operative records of perfusion activities.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and safety protocols.
Qualifications
Qualification: Bachelor of Science, Degree / Diploma in Perfusion Technology.
Experience: 3 years of experience.
Knowledge and Technical Skills: organizational skills.
- High degree of motivation, self‑discipline, and respect.
- Follow instructions with accuracy.
License / Registration: Valid MOH License.
