Job summary

Work corp is seeking a Librarian Assistant to support cataloging, circulation, and reference services in Abu Dhabi. You will assist the librarian with organizing the collection, cataloging new materials, helping patrons with research inquiries, and processing memberships and renewals.

The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with patrons of all ages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
• Previous library experience highly desirable.
• Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patrons of all ages and backgrounds.
• Proficient in using library software systems such as cataloging tools or circulation software.
• Familiarity with Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress Classification.
• Fluent English proficiency required; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
• Flexibility to work part-time hours including weekends and evenings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing and maintaining the library's collection of books, magazines, and other materials.
• Catalog new materials using standard classification systems.
• Help patrons locate materials and provide assistance with research inquiries.
• Process new library memberships and renewals.
• Monitor and manage circulation activities, including checking materials in and out, collecting fines, and managing reserves.
• Keep records of library transactions, such as loans and returns.
• Assist with event planning and implementation for library programs.
• Collaborate with other librarians to develop new services or programs that align with the needs of the community.
• Keep up-to-date with new literature releases and trends in the field.
