Job summary

Celestal is seeking an NDT Lead with Level III certification to act as the technical authority for onshore and offshore projects in the Metullurgy & Welding Shared Services team. The role oversees non-destructive testing from tendering through operation, ensuring integrity, reliability and safety across upstream and downstream facilities.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, with extensive NDT leadership experience, auditing capabilities, and strong English

Qualifications

• Requires a valid NDT Level III certification (ASNT, ISO 9712 or equivalent) covering RT, UT, MT and PT.
• Proven experience as an NDT Engineer in oil & gas or heavy industry with oversight of NDT contractors or vendor personnel.
• Experience auditing and reviewing manufacturing, fabrication and projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and advise on NDT of critical goods used in fabricating and building onshore and offshore facilities.
• Select NDT methods and techniques, including for extreme service conditions, and define acceptance criteria.
• Develop and maintain specifications and standards for NDT and welding inspection.
• Review non-conformances, technical queries, deviation requests and product/component issues.
• Make sure Contractor and critical Sub-Contractor Quality Plans include the right NDT, inspection and welding inspection provisions.
• Set NDT requirements for planning and carrying out all construction activities.
• Work with Engineering and Operations on Inspection & Test Plans and commissioning procedures for Topsides.
• Make sure goods from manufacturers and goods returned from offshore meet contract specifications and industry standards.
• Develop criteria to monitor and evaluate Contractor NDT and welding performance.
• Take part in technical audits, investigations, assessments and spot checks of NDT and inspection processes.
• Work with project teams, shareholder and external SMEs, EPC contractors, sub-contractors and vendors to resolve technical issues.
• Monitor compliance with HSE and quality policies, regulations and standards.

We’re looking for an NDT Lead to join the Metallurgy & Welding – Shared Services team and oversee non-destructive testing from tendering through to operation, protecting the integrity, reliability and safety of upstream and downstream facilities.

Your Responsibilities:

NDT Technical Authority:

• Lead and advise on NDT of critical goods used in fabricating and building onshore and offshore facilities.

What We’re Looking For:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science.

Essential: Valid NDT Level III certification (ASNT, ISO 9712 or equivalent) covering RT, UT, MT and PT.

Proven experience as an NDT Engineer in oil & gas or heavy industry, including oversight of NDT contractors or vendor personnel.

Experience auditing and reviewing manufacturing, fabrication and projects.

Technical knowledge: Advanced NDT techniques, welding inspection, API, ASME, ASTM, DNV, NACE and ISO codes, ISO 9001 and API Q1/Q2, and NACE corrosion engineering.

Experience with multiple major operators or with industries such as nuclear, aerospace or structural is preferred.

Membership of an international materials science institution is preferred.

Soft skills: Strong technical leadership, stakeholder management, mentoring and coaching, and excellent written and spoken English.
