Summary

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and highly accurate Medical Coder for one of our Healthcare & IT client based in Al Ain. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity, compliance, and financial accuracy of patient billing and medical records. The Medical Coder will be responsible for translating complex medical documentation into standardized codes using CPT, ICD-10, and other relevant coding systems in alignment with Abu Dhabi health regulations, Daman, DOH, and Tasneef audit standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, a commitment to continuous improvement, and hands‑on experience in multi‑specialty outpatient (OP) coding. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to operational excellence, enhance revenue cycle performance, and support high‑quality patient care through precise and compliant coding practices. The role also involves managing denials, resubmissions, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline coding workflows and reduce claim rejections.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes to medical procedures and diagnoses based on physician documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Abu Dhabi‑specific coding guidelines, Daman, DOH, and Tasneef audit requirements.
  • Perform thorough review and validation of medical records to support accurate and complete coding.
  • Manage denials and rejections by identifying root causes, preparing appeals, and resubmitting claims with corrected documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance coding accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with physicians, billing specialists, and healthcare administrators to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of coding updates, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Utilize XML‑based systems and electronic health record (EHR) platforms for data extraction, coding, and submission.
  • Support internal and external audits, including Tasneef audit preparation and response.
  • Contribute to team productivity by managing workload effectively and meeting turnaround time targets.
Requirements
  • Proven experience (1–3 years) in medical coding within a healthcare setting, with a focus on outpatient (OP) services across multiple specialties.
  • Hands‑on experience with CPT and ICD-10 systems, including accurate application in clinical documentation.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Abu Dhabi coding standards, Daman, DOH, and Tasneef audit requirements.
  • Experience in denials management and resubmission processes for insurance claims.
  • Proficiency in using XML for data exchange and integration within coding and billing systems.
  • Strong managerial and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with clinical and administrative teams.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is highly preferred.
