Job description
Responsibilities
  • Supervise mechanical teams including technicians, fitters and contractors to ensure they perform tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Assign tasks and monitor progress to ensure that project schedules are met.
  • Ensure proper documentation of work performed by the mechanical team.
  • Oversee routine preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, valves and piping systems.
  • Ensure timely repair of breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Supervise the installation, testing and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure proper calibration and alignment of machinery as per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) regulations including risk assessments and hazard control measures.
  • Ensure that all mechanical work meets industry standards, company specifications and client expectations.
  • Review and verify the quality of materials, tools and work processes used in mechanical tasks.
  • Identify and diagnose issues in mechanical systems and provide solutions to minimize disruption.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for mechanical failures and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports on mechanical activities including progress, incidents and required maintenance.
  • Report equipment performance and suggest improvements for efficiency and reliability.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized mechanical services, repairs or installations.
  • Oversee contractor work to ensure it meets the required standards and timelines.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, tools and materials required for mechanical tasks.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary resources for scheduled maintenance activities.
Qualifications
  • Education: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a supervisory role within the oil and gas industry particularly in mechanical maintenance and operations.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in HSE mechanical systems and maintenance management would be an advantage.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English is required;
