Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Mechanical Superintendent for a rotational role based in Basra, Iraq. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and at least 15 years of experience in the oil industry, with a proven track record in managing onshore construction projects. Responsibilities include evaluating co-activities with Construction SPVs and delivering training to the construction team. Fluency in English is essential, and Arabic is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the oil industry.
• At least 10 years onshore construction experience in a Superintendent role.
• Proven experience in achieving project goals while maintaining high HSSE standards.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage co-activities with Construction SPVs.
• Deliver training to personnel within the construction team.
• Produce detailed procedures, documents, and reports.

Mechanical Superintendent Process Services for one of our clients with the following details:

Location

Basra Iraq

Start Date

Jan 2026

Contract Duration

24 months, extendable

Work Status

Rotational 4 weeks ON and 4 weeks OFF

Qualification and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering,
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the oil industry and at least 10 years onshore construction experience in a Superintendent role
• Delivery focused with proven experience in achieving project goals whilst maintaining high standards in HSSE at all times
• Extensive knowledge of the construction process, its implementation and management. Fully conversant with project management tools
• Experienced in the production of detailed procedures / documents / reports
• Experienced in the management of personnel and all aspects of team working
• Extensive knowledge of O&G related HSSE safe working practices / procedures related to Mechanical (Static & Rotating, HVAC included) activities
• Evaluate and manage the Co-Activities with Construction SPVs
• Ability to deliver training to personnel within the construction team - commitment to develop team member
• Excellent knowledge of English language, Arabic is a plus
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment.
• Self‑motivated, good team member, but fully able to work independently.
