Job summary

EDGE is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our UAV-focused team in Abu Dhabi, providing design solutions for complex unmanned platforms. You will develop robust mechanical systems and contribute to airframe design and integration across multidisciplinary teams.

With 5+ years in UAV/mechanical design, you will generate detailed CAD models, BOMs, and documentation, while supporting rapid prototyping through CNC, composites, and additive manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
• 5+ years hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development and system integration for UAV/UAS, UGV, or aerospace systems.
• Strong experience in 3D CAD design using SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, CREO, or similar software.
• Practical UAV structural design, airframe development, prototype assembly, and mechanical integration experience.
• Hands-on experience with composite structures, CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and rapid prototyping.
• Experience supporting prototype manufacturing, mechanical testing, flight testing, and design validation.
• Good understanding of DFM, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawing preparation.
• Experience in multidisciplinary R&D environments supporting rapid product development and engineering changes.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in R&D activities for UAV/UAS and UGV systems.
• Design, develop, and optimize mechanical structures, airframes, and assemblies for unmanned platforms.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs for prototype and production.
• Design lightweight, manufacturable components with strength and reliability in mind.
• Support prototype manufacturing using CNC, composites, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing.
• Lead mechanical integration of propulsion, payloads, landing gear, avionics mounting, and structure.
• Support prototype assembly, ground and flight testing, troubleshooting, and validation.
• Conduct investigations, root-cause analysis, and implement design improvements.
• Collaborate with electronics, software, manufacturing, and flight test teams across the lifecycle.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, reports, assembly instructions, ECRs, and test reports.

About The Role

We are looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer to join our team to provide design solutions for our complex UAV projects.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in Research & Development activities for UAV/UAS and UGV systems.
• Design, develop, and optimize mechanical structures, airframes, and mechanical assemblies for unmanned platforms.
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for prototype and production.
• Design lightweight, manufacturable, and structurally efficient mechanical components while considering strength, weight, and reliability.
• Support prototype manufacturing using CNC machining, composite manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, and additive manufacturing techniques.
• Perform mechanical integration of propulsion systems, payloads, landing gear, avionics mounting, and structural components.
• Support prototype assembly, ground testing, flight testing, troubleshooting, and engineering validation activities.
• Conduct engineering investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective design improvements.
• Collaborate with electronics, software, manufacturing, and flight test teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, design reports, assembly instructions, engineering change requests (ECR), and test reports.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development, and system integration for UAV/UAS, UGV, or aerospace systems.
• Strong experience in 3D CAD design using SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, CREO, or similar engineering software.
• Practical experience in UAV structural design, airframe development, prototype assembly, and mechanical integration.
• Hands-on experience in composite structures, CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and rapid prototyping.
• Experience supporting prototype manufacturing, mechanical testing, flight testing, and design validation.
