Job summary

ADASI in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Engineer to lead the design, integration, and validation of UAV mechanical systems, including landing gear, fuel, ECS, hydraulics and actuation. You will develop CAD models and detailed drawings for production and field trials.

You will work with cross-functional teams, define requirements, ICDs and BOMs in line with MIL-STD and DO-160, support prototypes and testing, and drive improvements in manufacturability and reliability to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 5+ years in aerospace mechanical systems design with multi-domain expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, integration, and validation of airframe systems for UAVs (landing gear, fuel, ECS, hydraulics, actuation).
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed drawings for production and testing.
• Perform structural, hydromechanical, and thermal analyses under operational loads.
• Collaborate with avionics, propulsion, and flight-controls teams for integration.
• Define system requirements, ICDs, and BOMs per aerospace standards (MIL-STD, DO-160).
• Support prototype builds, ground tests, and flight trials; troubleshoot issues.
• Ensure airworthiness compliance and adherence to defense standards.
• Drive continuous improvement for performance, manufacturability, and maintainability.

Position - Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Engineer – Landing Gear, Fuel System, ECS, Hydraulics & Actuation

Key Responsibilities :

• Lead and take ownership for the design, integration, and validation of mechanical airframe systems, including landing gear assemblies, fuel distribution systems, ECS, hydraulic circuits, and actuation mechanisms for UAV platforms.
• Develop 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation using industry-standard tools (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks).
• Perform structural, hydromechanical and thermal analyses to ensure system integrity and correct sizing under operational loads and environmental conditions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—avionics, propulsion, flight controls to ensure seamless system integration.
• Define system requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and bill of materials (BOMs) in compliance with aerospace standards (e.g., MIL-STD, RTCA DO-160).
• Support prototype builds, ground tests, and flight trials, troubleshooting and resolving design issues in real time.
• Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations and defense sector quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, manufacturability, and maintainability.

Educational background :

1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred).
2. Minimum 5 years experience in aerospace mechanical systems design, with proven expertise in at least three of the following: landing gear, fuel systems, ECS, hydraulics, actuation.

Professional Experience:

• Proficiency in 3D CAD and PLM systems (CATIA, NX, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic system design, fuel system architecture, and ECS thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools.
• Standards & Compliance: Experience with aerospace and defense standards (e.g., AS9100, MIL-STD, DO-160).
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving ability, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and clear technical communication.

Technical Skills:

• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
• EASA Part 21 or GCAA Design Organisation Approval (DOA) exposure.
• Certification in Systems Engineering (INCOSE ASEP/CSEP) or Project Management (PMP/PRINCE2).
