Job summary

talabat is seeking a Manager - Strategy & Performance to join the regional Chief Retail Officer team. The role centers on analyzing business performance, delivering data-driven insights, and guiding markets toward PnL targets.

Responsibilities include translating group goals into local grocery and retail strategies, leading budgeting cycles, and performing deep-dive analyses to unlock growth opportunities. Strong finance, data tools, and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; MBA is a plus.
• 5+ years in food delivery, e-commerce or management consulting.
• Strong finance acumen; experience in P&L analysis, budgeting.
• Experience with data tools: BigQuery, SQL, Looker.
• Strong analytical and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel and/or Google Slides/Sheets.
• Proven stakeholder and cross-functional collaboration experience.

Responsibilities

About the opportunity

Manager - Strategy & Performance role is part of the regional Chief Retail Officer organizational structure. The role involves analyzing talabat’s business performance, preparing data-driven insights for senior management, conducting in-depth market analyses to unlock topline and bottom-line opportunities, leading special projects, and ensuring talabat is on track to hit PnL targets.

WHAT’S ON YOUR PLATE?

> Strategic Leadership & Planning

• Vision Execution: Translate Group-level goals into localized Grocery and Retail strategies for various markets.
• Annual Budgeting & OKRs: Lead the annual and quarterly planning cycles, setting aggressive yet realistic targets for revenue, cost, and market share.
• Market Expansion: Evaluate new business opportunities, market entries, or service line extensions (e.g., talabat mart).

> Reporting Performance Management

• Analyze Data: Dive into talabat’s performance metrics, identifying key trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
• Prepare Reports: Create comprehensive and insightful reports for senior management, highlighting key drivers of change and actionable insights.
• Communicate Findings: Present findings in a clear and concise manner, often translating complex data into understandable recommendations for decision-makers.

> Conducting Analytical Deep Dives

• Country-Specific Analysis: Perform detailed analyses of different talabat markets, focusing on identifying turnaround opportunities, growth and profitability areas.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various departments to understand and address cross-functional issues impacting business performance.
• Strategy Development: Develop and recommend strategies based on analysis to improve overall performance and achieve business objectives.

> Special projects:

• Launching new products: Develop business use cases with innovative ideas and bring them to life by working on their implementation, ensuring they align with strategic goals and add value to the business.

> PnL management:

• Budgeting: Collaborate with local teams to develop talabat’s yearly budget, setting growth and profitability goals.
• P&L management: Ensure that budgets are adhered to consistently across the organization and proactively identify and pursue opportunities to exceed financial targets and enhance overall profitability.

WHAT DID WE ORDER?

Preferred candidates will be:

• Bachelor's Degree from a reputed institution and in related field (MBA is a plus)
• 5+ years of professional experience within the food delivery, e-commerce or management consulting industries (Past experience in subscription-focused business is a plus)
• Strong finance acumen; experience in P&L analysis, financial modeling, budgeting, business impact analysis
• Expertise with data tools: Big Query, SQL, Lookr etc.
• Strong analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Experience with PowerPoint and Excel And/ Or Google Slides/ Sheets.
• Strong track-record of problem-solving, including structuring problems, performing detailed analysis, and translating data into actionable insights.
• Proven experience in stakeholder management, relationship management, or similar roles within the food tech industry or related sectors.
• Experience working closely with cross-functional teams is a plus
