Key Responsibilities
Risk Assessment and Consequence Modeling
- Perform Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) using tools like PHAST and FRED.
- Conduct consequence modeling to predict potential impacts of hazardous events.
- Develop hazardous area classification reports and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Project Support and Engineering
- Provide safety and loss prevention expertise during conceptual studies FrontEnd Engineering Design (FEED) and basic engineering stages for both facility modifications and new multidiscipline projects.
- Prepare detailed EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) Scope of Work documents related to safety and loss prevention.
Safety Review and Leadership
- Lead and participate in safety reviews including HAZOP HAZID ENVID PHSER LSE QRA FHA and PHA studies.
- Oversee cause and effects reviews ensuring all safety implications are thoroughly analyzed and addressed.
Technical Documentation and Compliance
- Prepare review and approve Loss Prevention deliverables for proposed modifications and new projects.
- Interpret and ensure adherence to safety codes standards and best practices relevant to the Oil and Gas industry.
- Provide technical support and interpretation of P&IDs PFDs logic diagrams SAFE charts and cause and effect diagrams.
HAZOP Studies
- Lead and facilitate HAZOP studies to identify potential hazards and operability issues in process systems.
- Document findings and recommend corrective actions to mitigate identified risks.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering Process Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in conducting HAZOP studies consequence modeling and QRA.
- Proficiency in using safety and risk assessment software such as PHAST PHAPro or similar tools.
- Indepth knowledge of international safety standards and codes (e.g. OSHA EPA NFPA ISO).
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in process safety (e.g. CCPS TUV Functional Safety Engineer).
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and their impact on process safety.
- Experience in the chemical oil and gas or manufacturing industries.
