Job summary

Work standard is seeking a Librarian in Abu Dhabi to manage the library's collections and assist patrons with locating materials and using resources. The role requires handling cataloging systems and developing programs to promote library use.

Excellent English and Arabic communication is essential. Candidates with or without experience are welcome, with a Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field preferred but not required (we are willing to consider candidates with no experience).
• Knowledge of cataloging systems such as Dewey Decimal System or Library of Congress Classification System is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures is desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic are required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Manage the library's collection of books, magazines, and other materials.
• Assist patrons with locating materials and using library resources.
• Conduct research on library topics as required.
• Help organize and maintain the library's cataloging system.
• Maintain records of loans and returns of library materials.
• Develop programming to promote the use of the library's resources among the public.
• Assist in developing policies for the effective use of library resources.
• Participate in staff training activities to keep up with technology advances in libraries.
