Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
• Experience as librarian preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of library principles and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage the library's collection by acquiring new materials and removing outdated materials as necessary.
• Develop library policies and procedures that ensure efficient library operation.
• Assist patrons in locating books, materials, or information using online databases, catalogues, reference books, or other available resources.
• Provide one-on-one assistance to patrons with research projects or questions related to library materials.
• Compile bibliographies of specialized materials for use by students, faculty, or other researchers.
• Prepare reports on collection usage and performance for management review.
• Plan activities such as book displays or author talks that promote the use of the library’s resources.
• Maintain accurate records related to circulation, acquisitions, inventory control and budgeting issues.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest technological developments in libraries and apply them where appropriate.
