Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assisting patrons in finding books and other media materials; organizing library stock; cataloguing new acquisitions; answering inquiries from the public; maintaining records of library membership; preparing reports on library activity.
- Utilizing library software to catalogue new items and enter data into databases.
- Assisting patrons in using the library’s computer systems and providing technical support when necessary.
- Working collaboratively with other staff members in developing new programs or initiatives related to the library’s function.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or equivalent experience preferred
- Knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office Suite, library software programs, databases, etc.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Immigrant status considered favorably
