All staff are expected to adhere to The Aquila Professional Code of Conduct and to promote the school's vision of a happy community school where pupils are empowered to make choices, engage in meaningful learning experiences and achieve exceptional progress.

Role

To participate in a professional development programme over the course of the academic year, supported by a teacher and a subject specialist mentor. The role will consist of:

  • Teaching and learning as an Arabic teacher
  • Learning support assistance to the team
  • Working with the inclusion team
Key Qualities and Skills
  • Teach in an enjoyable, creative, and inclusive way, promoting independence so that every child, including those who attend the Hemam centre, makes as much progress as possible.
  • Develop positive working relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Use initiative, be flexible, fun, proactive and positive.
Core Purposes
  • Help children make as much progress with their learning as possible.
  • Encourage children to be independent.
  • Support the teachers in the day‑to‑day running of the class.
Key Duties for All Teachers
  • Ensure children are safe and well cared for at all times.
  • Work with groups and individuals to support learning across the curriculum under the direction of the head of MoE subjects, including delivery of intervention programmes.
  • Encourage independence by helping children achieve their objectives through questioning, dialogue, demonstrating, and modelling.
  • Support the day‑to‑day running of the school – e.g., preparing resources, being responsible for specific areas.
  • Engage pupils in meaningful talk at all opportunities to develop language and build relationships.
  • Supervise children, including on trips, during break times, while travelling around the school, and during swimming and PE lessons.
  • Manage pupil behaviour positively and serve as a positive role model in line with The Aquila Way on behaviour.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times – never discuss any aspect of school work outside of colleagues in school.
  • Be proactive in knowing the expectations of your work for each session.
  • Meet at least weekly with the teaching team.
  • Work closely with teachers to ensure effective communication – both oral and written – concerning pupil progress and learning.
  • Be proactive in your own professional development – ask for support if there is an element of the role you feel less confident in carrying out.
  • Work alongside teachers and children to create interactive and relevant displays that support learning and celebrate achievement.
  • Plan and deliver creative and engaging lessons, ensuring children are actively learning throughout each lesson and that every child makes as much progress as possible.
  • Comply with agreed policies and Aquila Ways.
  • Actively participate in your own performance management process.
  • Be involved in improving learning across the school as a subject leader.

In addition, all staff are required to carry out any tasks required by the school or the regional office to facilitate the smooth day‑to‑day running of the school.
