About the job JUNIOR INSTRUMENTATION AND AUTOMATION DESIGNER
The Junior Instrumentation Designer will assist in the preparation and updating of instrumentation design deliverables for onshore oil & gas projects during the Engineering Phase. The role requires proficiency in design drafting, instrumentation layouts, and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams, while ensuring compliance with ADNOC standards and project specifications.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and develop instrumentation design drawings including: Loop diagrams, Instrument location drawings, Hook‑up diagrams, Termination and wiring diagrams
- Update and maintain instrumentation design deliverables based on engineering markups and senior engineer guidance.
- Assist in preparation of cable schedules, junction box details, and I/O lists.
- Ensure all designs comply with ADNOC Engineering Standards (ADES/AGES) and international instrumentation standards (ISA, IEC, etc.).
- Coordinate with process, electrical, and civil disciplines to ensure proper integration of instrumentation systems.
- Assist in 3D model updates for instrument routing and placement using tools like SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) or equivalent.
- Support design reviews, model reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
- Maintain drawing registers and ensure proper version control of instrumentation deliverables.
- Provide input to instrument datasheets, material take‑offs (MTOs), and design documentation.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Engineering.
- Up to 5 years of experience as an Instrumentation Designer in oil & gas projects.
- Experience in Engineering Phase FEED, Detailed Engineering, and Detail Design.
- ADNOC project experience is a must.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI).
- Knowledge of ADNOC standards, P&IDs, instrumentation symbols, and design practices.
- Basic understanding of control systems, field instruments, and wiring practices.
- Good coordination, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Immediate availability to join in Abu Dhabi.
- Familiarity with instrument datasheets, I/O lists, and instrument specifications.
- Exposure to EDMS platforms (e.g., Aconex, SmartPlant Foundation, Documentum).
- Ability to assist in loop checking, model reviews, and constructability verification.
- Keen attention to detail and willingness to learn from senior engineers.
