IT Applications Developer – e‑Learning is a full‑time role based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The position focuses on developing, maintaining, integrating, and improving enterprise applications for ATA, designing digital learning solutions, translating business requirements into technical specifications, supporting deployment, resolving system issues, and ensuring software services remain reliable, secure, scalable and aligned with ADNOC technology policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and enhance enterprise applications according to approved business and technical requirements.
- Design and implement digital solutions supporting ATA’s e‑Learning environment.
- Review application objectives, user inputs, expected outputs and operational requirements with stakeholders.
- Translate business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications.
- Work with subject matter experts to understand processes, user journeys, information needs and system constraints.
- Develop prototypes to validate proposed application functions before full implementation.
- Create workflow charts, process diagrams, data flows and application logic.
- Organise development requirements into logical programming sequences.
- Convert approved workflows and specifications into reliable application code.
- Apply suitable programming languages, frameworks, tools and development standards.
- Develop validation checks that protect data consistency, completeness and processing integrity.
- Build exception handling and error controls that support early identification and resolution of technical problems.
- Modify application code, workflows and sequences when testing identifies defects or improvement needs.
- Conduct unit, integration, functional, performance and user acceptance testing.
- Confirm that applications operate correctly before release into production.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to build, test, release and deploy application changes.
- Maintain software configuration, integration and deployment processes according to ADNOC technology standards.
- Manage technical dependencies between ATA applications and ADNOC infrastructure services.
- Work with infrastructure teams to troubleshoot connectivity, access, hosting, performance and environment‑related issues.
- Support integration between enterprise applications, databases, learning systems and related platforms.
- Ensure interfaces transfer information accurately and securely.
- Monitor application performance and identify capacity, reliability and scalability concerns.
- Conduct periodic capacity planning to confirm that system resources can meet current and future requirements.
- Perform systems tuning and recommend improvements to application performance.
- Investigate recurring faults, bottlenecks, processing delays and system availability issues.
- Coordinate application incidents throughout the complete incident lifecycle.
- Record, prioritise, investigate, resolve and close incidents according to service management procedures.
- Escalate complex infrastructure or platform issues to the appropriate ADNOC technical teams.
- Maintain clear communication with users during service interruptions and problem resolution.
- Prepare application release notes, technical documentation, support procedures and configuration records.
- Develop clear user manuals and operating instructions.
- Maintain historical records of application development, revisions, releases and technical decisions.
- Deliver training and guidance to end users on newly introduced or modified applications.
- Gather user feedback and incorporate approved improvements into future releases.
- Support change management activities linked to new systems, processes and digital services.
- Encourage user adoption through practical communication, demonstrations and ongoing assistance.
- Plan, supervise and coordinate activities within the assigned application development area.
- Allocate tasks and monitor progress against agreed objectives, priorities and delivery dates.
- Train and develop assigned employees in relevant technical and operational skills.
- Support team capability development through coaching, knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
- Provide input for departmental and section budget preparation.

Ideal Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in application development, systems analysis, software design, programming or enterprise technology support.
- Previous experience within oil and gas, energy, education, government or another large regulated organisation preferred.
- Strong background in web‑based application architecture and development.
- Experience analysing user requirements and converting them into technical solutions.
- Practical ability to prepare workflows, system diagrams, specifications and application prototypes.
- Hands‑on experience in programming, application testing, debugging, release and deployment.
- Understanding of enterprise application configuration, integration and environment management.
- Experience developing or supporting e‑Learning platforms, learning management systems or digital training solutions advantageous.
- Knowledge of application capacity planning, performance monitoring and system tuning.
- Experience developing data validation, exception handling and application integrity controls.
- Strong understanding of incident management and application support processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues involving applications, databases, integrations, hosting and infrastructure.
- Experience preparing technical documents, user manuals, release notes and support procedures.
- Ability to train end users and explain technical functionality in clear language.
