Job summary

Wesgreen International School - Sharjah, part of the GEMS Education network, is seeking an Islamic Studies Coordinator to lead the delivery and development of Islamic A and B across the secondary phase. The role combines classroom expertise with curriculum coordination, teacher support and departmental leadership to raise student achievement.

The ideal candidate will have a BA in Islamic Studies, teacher certification, native Arabic, and at least 3 years in secondary teaching with leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies or equivalent degree.
• Qualified teacher certification required.
• Native Arabic speaker.
• Minimum 3 years of secondary teaching experience.
• Leadership and management experience in an academic department.
• Strong knowledge of Islamic A and Islamic B curriculum delivery.
• Very good written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate delivery of Islamic A and Islamic B across the secondary phase.
• Establish departmental priorities aligned with curriculum requirements.
• Support teachers in planning engaging, structured Islamic Studies lessons.
• Promote consistent teaching standards across classes and year groups.
• Review schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments and teaching resources.
• Monitor student attainment, progress and participation across the department.
• Coach team members and coordinate curriculum reviews.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and departmental matters.
