The Inventory & Asset Management Officer will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all inventory and fixed assets across multiple locations, including vessels, warehouses, and onshore facilities. This role involves conducting physical counts, verification, reconciliation, and condition assessments to ensure inventory integrity and effective asset management. The candidate will also implement barcoding/RFID systems and contribute to developing policies for managing slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management & Recording
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and verification including Unit of Measure (UOM), part numbers, item descriptions, and serial numbers.
- Perform condition assessments across multiple categories (e.g., Good, Expired, Damaged, Obsolete).
- Categorize inventory based on type (e.g., Project inventory, Spares, Consumables) and storage locations (vessel store, warehouse bins, etc.).
- Implement and manage barcode systems for tracking and identification of inventory items.
- Maintain real-time tracking and movement updates for all inventory.
- Reconcile physical counts with system records and identify discrepancies.
- Update and maintain accurate inventory data in the ERP system.
- Support integration of physical inventory records digital systems.
3. Policy & Control
- Develop and enforce policies for slow-moving and aged inventory.
- Establish time-based inventory categories and define annual reduction targets.
- Monitor stock levels and recommend disposal or repurposing strategies for obsolete items.
4. Fixed Asset Management
- Manage and record all fixed assets across multiple locations (vessels, warehouses, and shore-based sites).
- Conduct physical verification and tagging of assets using RFID or barcodes.
- Perform detailed data capture, including serial numbers, models, manufacturers, custodians, and locations.
- Reconcile physical assets against the Fixed Asset Register (FAR), identifying discrepancies or unrecorded assets.
- Classify assets into categories: Marine assets, technical testing equipment, and Shore-based assets.
- Assess and record asset conditions (Good, Fair, Poor, Damaged, Obsolete).
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Accounting, or related field.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in inventory and asset management.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Hands‑on experience with barcode and RFID technologies.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and reporting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Knowledge of asset tracking and condition assessment methodologies.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in marine, offshore, or industrial environments.
- Familiarity with ISO standards related to asset and inventory management.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple locations.
