Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Inspector – Wet Utilities to join our Abu Dhabi team. The role focuses on inspecting wet utility construction works, including stormwater, sewerage, potable water, and irrigation networks, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications.

You will conduct daily site inspections, verify installations, monitor quality, witness tests and maintain records while coordinating with engineers and Contractors on progress and quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Experience in wet utilities and infrastructure construction preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Inspect wet utility construction works including stormwater, sewerage, potable water, irrigation networks and related infrastructure.
• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure works conform to approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs and project requirements.
• Inspect installation of pipelines, manholes, catch basins, gullies, drainage structures, chambers and associated works.
• Monitor quality of materials, workmanship, installation, bedding, backfilling, compaction and protection of wet utility networks.
• Witness and inspect testing activities (pressure, leakage, CCTV) and verify line, level, alignment and invert levels.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and participate in site meetings and coordination activities.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Inspector – Wet Utilities to join our infrastructure project team in Abu Dhabi, with relevant experience in wet utilities and infrastructure construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor wet utility construction works, including stormwater, sewerage, potable water, irrigation, and associated networks.
• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project requirements.
• Inspect the installation of pipelines, manholes, catch basins, gullies, drainage structures, chambers, and associated works.
• Inspect sewerage, potable water, irrigation, and stormwater networks and related structures as required.
• Review and verify Inspection Requests (IRs) submitted by the Contractor and ensure works are ready for inspection.
• Monitor the quality of materials, workmanship, installation, bedding, backfilling, compaction, and protection of wet utility networks.
• Witness and inspect testing activities, including pressure testing, leakage testing, CCTV inspection, and other applicable tests.
• Verify line, level, alignment, slopes, and invert levels of pipelines and associated structures.
• Ensure construction works comply with approved shop drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Identify defective or non-compliant works and coordinate with the Engineer and Contractor for corrective actions.
• Monitor the Contractor’s compliance with approved method statements, ITPs, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with surveyors and other disciplines to ensure correct setting out, levels, and alignment.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, site activities, testing, and quality-related issues.
• Participate in site meetings and coordination activities as required.
• Support the Engineer in monitoring construction progress and quality of the works.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental requirements are followed during site activities.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in wet utilities and infrastructure construction.
• Good knowledge of stormwater, sewerage, potable water, irrigation networks, and associated infrastructure works.
• Experience in inspecting pipelines, manholes, drainage structures, chambers, and associated infrastructure works.
• Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and inspection procedures.
• Experience working with Contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• UAE infrastructure and Authority experience is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and good communication and coordination skills.
