Job summary

Revolut in the United Arab Emirates seeks a Senior Compute Engineer to design and build core systems for containerised and virtualised workloads on bare metal and hybrid environments.

You will develop infrastructure-agnostic tools and APIs, ensure reliability, and manage the hardware lifecycle while collaborating with security, network, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable, high-performance infrastructure for a global financial platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3+ years managing physical hardware.
• Kubernetes on bare metal and Ceph/MinIO storage experience.
• Infrastructure automation with IaC tools.
• Deep knowledge of data centre operations: power, cooling, rack management.
• Familiar with server hardware and storage (Dell/HP/Supermicro).
• Strong troubleshooting across hardware and performance bottlenecks.
• Expertise in Go, Java or Python.
• Academic background in STEM.

We’re looking for a Senior Compute Engineer to design and build core systems that manage containerised and virtualised workloads running on bare metal and hybrid environments. You'll be building tools that abstract hardware complexity, and optimising infrastructure for scale and speed.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing and maintaining the compute layer, focusing Kubernetes on bare metal
• Developing infrastructure-agnostic tooling and APIs to manage hybrid cloud environments at scale
• Ensuring infrastructure reliability through proactive detection/remediation of hardware failures and auto-healing
• Managing the hardware lifecycle, from procurement and installation to decommissioning and upgrades
• Collaborating closely with network, security, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration between physical infrastructure and public cloud
• Documenting infrastructure processes, configurations, and best practices

What You'll Need

• 5+ years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
• 3+ years of experience managing physical hardware
• Experience with Kubernetes on bare metal and open-source storage solutions (Ceph, MinIO)
• Experience automating infrastructure tasks using Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• In-depth knowledge of data centre operations, including power distribution, cooling, and rack management
• Familiarity with server hardware and storage systems (Dell, HP, Supermicro)
• Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to hardware failures and performance bottlenecks
• Expertise in one or more object-oriented programming languages (Go, Java, Python)
• An academic background in STEM

Nice to have

• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CCNP, CKA, Google Cloud, Red Hat)
• Experience working in regulated environments, such as financial services
• Familiarity with security best practices and compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, SOC2, GDPR)
