Job summary

Nordhail, a Calgary-rooted industrial AI company serving the energy sector, offers a student internship in Abu Dhabi. You will write and validate engineering handbooks, test AI with real site scenarios, and learn AI-assisted development without prior ML background.

This on-site role emphasizes field knowledge and practical problem solving. Ideal candidates are MEng students in chemical, petroleum, process, mechanical or mining engineering with strong industrial exposure and Arabic language

Qualifications

• Pursuing (or recently completed) MEng in a chemical, petroleum, process, mechanical or mining field.
• Strong on-site industrial exposure via co-op/work term/industry role.
• Ability to identify technical inaccuracies and justify corrections.
• Experience with SCADA, historian or sensor data is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Write and structure equipment handbooks, operating procedures, standards and site practices.
• Validate content for technical accuracy against field experience.
• Create test questions from real operating scenarios and assess AI answers as correct, incomplete or unsafe.
• Collaborate with engineering team to close content gaps.
• Present findings to leadership at term end.

January or May 2027, for 4, 8 or 12 months

Nordhail builds industrial AI for the energy sector, with Calgary roots and customers around the world. Our AI is only as good as the engineering knowledge behind it, and that's where you come in.

THE ROLE

You'll write and validate the engineering handbooks our AI relies on, then test it with the questions an operator or site engineer would actually ask. This role values what you've learned on site over what you've learned in code. No programming or machine learning background needed: we'll teach you AI-assisted development as you go.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Write and structure equipment handbooks, operating procedures, standards and site practices
• Validate content for technical accuracy against your field experience
• Build test questions from real operating scenarios and score our AI's answers as correct, incomplete or unsafe
• Work with our engineering team to close the gaps
• Present your findings to leadership at the end of your term

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• MEng students in Chemical, Petroleum, Process, Mechanical or Mining Engineering
• Industrial field experience from a co-op, work term or industry role
• Able to spot when an answer is technically wrong, and explain why
• Exposure to oil and gas, mining, utilities, process control or asset management
• Experience with SCADA, historian or sensor data
• Arabic language skills
