Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site IGCSE Science Teacher role based in the United Arab Emirates at Belvedere British School Abu Dhabi. The teacher will plan and deliver engaging IGCSE Science lessons (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics) aligned with the British curriculum and school policies. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans and teaching materials, delivering instruction, assessing student progress, providing feedback, and maintaining accurate records. The role involves differentiating teaching to meet diverse learning needs, managing classroom behavior effectively, and creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment. The teacher will also communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, participate in staff meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and support school events and extracurricular activities.

Qualifications

Strong subject knowledge in IGCSE Science (Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics) and familiarity with the British curriculum. Demonstrated classroom teaching skills, including lesson planning, instruction, assessment, and behavior management. Ability to create inclusive, student-centered learning experiences that support diverse learning styles and abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, families, and colleagues in a multicultural environment. Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related scientific field; a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B. Ed.) is strongly preferred. Previous experience teaching IGCSE or equivalent secondary science courses; international or UAE experience is an advantage. Competence in using educational technology and digital tools to support teaching, assessment, and reporting. Commitment to continuous professional development, safeguarding and child protection standards, and the school’s ethos of preparation for life.
